What are specialty chemicals?
Specialty chemicals are geared toward specific services and customer needs, rather than general use. While commodity chemicals have dozens of applications, a specialty chemical only has one or two core applications. Furthermore, while commodity chemicals account for most of the production volume in the global market, specialty chemicals account for most of the diversity, in other words, a greater number of different chemicals.
What are their applications?
Some applications of specialty chemicals are adhesives and sealants, catalysts, electronic chemicals, institutional and industrial cleaners, agrochemicals, paints and coatings, construction chemicals such as concrete admixtures, engineering thermoplastics, nutraceuticals and films.
