Mr Gaël de Rotalier works in the European Commission where he leads the team dealing with EU policies related to waste shipments, the Basel Convention, end-of-life vehicles, ship recycling and waste from extractive industries. This role includes working with Member States, international organisations, industry and civil society on the implementation and enforcement of EU legislation related to waste, especially to address illegal shipments of waste. In his early career in the European Commission, he was in charge of the EU policy on wildlife trade, where he was spearheading the EU approach against wildlife trafficking, in close cooperation with enforcement agencies, Europol and international bodies.
