Jorge Ocaña
Manager of the Chemicals and Waste Programme at UNITAR
Jorge is our Manager and has more than 25 years of experience developing chemicals-related strategies, guidance materials and training programmes on specific areas of Chemicals and Waste Management. He has been involved in activities and projects related to Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), particularly on PCB management in African countries and in the Latin American region. He holds a master’s degree in Social Sciences and a Biology Degree.
Dr. Alina Koch
PCB Management Coordinator at UNITAR
Alina coordinates and develops PCB related training at UNITAR for countries that are working towards the elimination of PCB under the Stockholm Convention. She holds a PhD in environmental chemistry and has been involved in studies and activities related to Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) for six years, including PCB and fluorinated POPs (PFAS).

Mario Mendoza Zegarra
PCB Expert
Mario is our PCB expert with long hands-on experiences. He is a mechanical engineer with a MSc in environmental development and has been working more than 15 years in PCB projects consulting with private and government organizations as well as UNEP and UNIDO projects. His focus is on PCB inventory, screening, and PCB management.
