Module 3

Nutrient analysis methodologies with focus on surface waters

This module provides an overview of methodologies to measure nutrient parameters, i.e. dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN), dissolved inorganic phosphorus (DIP) and chlorophyll a. As well as aspects of quality control and assurance are covered including discussion on matrix spikes and how can they improve nutrient data quality.

The three videos of this module are about the use and interpretation of matrix spikes, analysis procedures for chlorophyll a method US EPA 445, and the strengths and weaknesses of in vivo vs in vitro fluorometry of chlorophyll a.
